Our passion; To create a lifelong love of swimming

We pride ourselves in the structure and delivery of our lessons. Our aim is to promote a high standard of swimming from play and confidence building, to swimming techniques, fun, enjoyment and achievement to the highest level in the sport.

All our instructors are fully qualified and experienced and hold the relevant Swim England qualifications. Tuition is always hands on as instructors are in the water, therefore ensuring your child will receive above average attention, teaching in a friendly and encouraging environment.

We do private lessons to suit those who require additional support and adult swimming lessons. We also do dedicated training sessions for triathletes who require stamina and stroke training. We offer individually graded classes with teachers in the water. All pupils can participate in the Swim England 'Learn to Swim Programme'. Each child’s needs are individually assessed and constantly updated each month. Our aim is to ensure that everyone leaves us with a very special gift for life.

Coaches

Diane Glover

After a lifetime in the water, my passion for swimming was further developed through pre-school swimming lessons on to swimming club and county level competitions (training up to 14 hours a week). Taking my own children into the pool as babies is when I qualified as a swimming teacher.

I set up Glovers Swim School as I recognised a need for a school that gave children individual attention, water confidence and encouragement – ensuring correct stroke technique was taught from the earliest formative years.

When the children began to compete, I coached at the top local swimming clubs for 12 years gaining experience in coaching children up to national standard. I believe my success is down to teaching the correct strokes from an early age, hence the many national awards the swim school has achieved.

My love of working with children as well as my enthusiasm of helping children to learn is why I qualified as a swimming teacher. I have a great deal of varied experience of working with children of different ages as well as teaching swimming for ten years.

My initial involvement in teaching swimming began at Fulwood Leisure Centre, where I worked for the sports development team, encouraging children from underprivileged backgrounds to participate in sport. During my time there I worked running the holiday club, co coordinating and teaching the swimming lessons and being a lifeguard.

I then worked as deputy manager at Whitechapel pre-school as well as doing some part-time swimming teaching. My experience of working with children helps me to understand and teach children in a fun and exciting way in order to deliver high quality swimming lessons.

  • NVQ level 3 in Early Years Child Care and Education.

Having swam regularly throughout my life (including county level swimming) it has enabled me to understand the invaluable process of learning to swim and benefits in which it can have.

I have a National Sports Coaching degree which i studied at the University of Central Lancashire (gaining a 2:1) – this has allowed me to understand coaching principles and practices. During my course of study I completed modules on high performance coaching which involves studying and producing swimming programmes for elite performers.

In addition to this I have covered coaching special populations which has provided me with insight and experience into coaching disabled participants. Whilst studying at university I have also been heavily involved in swimming tuition and have gained a vast amount of experience during this time. I particularly enjoy stroke analysis and video-link to improve competitive swimmers and triathletes / open water swimmers.
