Our History

Our swim school was set up by Diane Glover in 1983. She started the swim school through hiring a local private pool with her friends, and therefore teaching their children. As a child, Diane swam for Preston Swimming Club from the age of 6, and then moved onto the Northern County Squad and competed all over the UK. Diane then had her children; Mel in 1980, Paula in 1981, Charlotte in 1983 and Tom in 1987, whilst starting to build up her new business. Her children swam, and went onto swim competitively, Paula and Tom competing at Regional level and all of us still enjoying swimming for fun and competitively still.

Mel and Paula continued to pursue a career in childcare, and Tom in sport. In years to come, the whole family, including Jess (Tom's wife) came together to build Glovers Swim School to what it is today. Diane started teaching two children per week, and now, we teach over 1000 people per week with our team of over 30 teachers and assistants, across 6 venues.
